The cinema is situated in the very center of the city, in one of Stalin’s famous buildings. Since its foundation in 1966 it has hosted a great number of Russian and international festivals, meetings with world-famous filmmakers and special events. The cinema has one screening hall with 217 seats.

OKTYABR is a movie theatre built in 1967 on Novy Arbat street. It’s front side is decorated with mosaic about October revolution, made of natural stone. From 1998 till 2005 the theatre was under reconstruction which turned it into 11-screening-rooms multiplex that can simultaneously host 3000 guests. The biggest screening room can host 1518 people. Nowadays OKTYABR makes part of the KARO FILM network and is the host movie theatre for Moscow International Filmfestival. KARO Art is a new area where the cinema focuses on art-house and independent films and film festivals

The School was opened in 2012 to educate and train talent for all fields of the film industry: pre-production, production, post-production and film distribution. MFS, alongside with the British Higher School of Art & Design, Scream School and the Moscow Architectural School MARCH, are members of a consortium of educational institutions representing first-class education in the creative industries sphere. All members of Association of Film and Television Producers joined the School's Board of Trustees in 2012.
