shnit ENCOUNTERS | BERN
The fringe program, shnit ENCOUNTERS, focuses on interpersonal and intercultural exchange, skills development, networking and of course celebration.
The EVENT CIRCUS section includes parties, concerts and special performances. shnit takes pride in providing those extra special meeting places for audience and filmmakers during the five festival days and nights. Not to mention that, no matter where in the world you are, shnit throws one hell of a party!
The TALENT FOCUS section provides a platform for industry events, panels or workshops for attending national and international filmmakers and guests. These events not only act as an exchange platform for festival participants, but also as a meeting point between industry players and the public, allowing shnit to function as a place of mediation and encounter between professional filmmakers and the enthusiastic audience.
shnit ENCOUNTERS | EVENT CIRCUS
Wednesday 5 October
Slam Movie Night, Progr Aula, Bern, 9PM.
The alternative opening ceremony: shnit's first night sees local short films being pitted against one another for the favor of the audience! In a contest decided by cheering, applause and booing, one short film will prevail and win the legendary «Slammie».
Wednesday 5 October - Sunday 9 October
shnit EXPO – ART | EAT | DRINK, PROGR inner courtyard, starting 12 pm.
Visual Art and performances by BONE festival meet culinary treats, accompanied by plenty of music. The BONE Performance Art Festival Bern, together with students of the Bern University of the Arts (HKB), partakes in the shnit SPOTLIGHT | CROSSING BORDERS program with fascinating performance contributions. The crossing of borders isn't what the performing arts inherently set out to do. Borders are simply obsolete and the act of crossing them actually is the métier of those trapped within their own profession, of the territorial wardens of what we understand as categories. With "cut, slice & split", actionist holes are cut into conventional patterns of expectation and thought.
