South African Jahmil X.T. Qubeka has a decade long career spanning an entire spectrum of filmmaking disciplines. His documentary and feature film work screened at festivals including Rotterdam, Pusan and Dubai amongst others. Jahmil made his feature film directorial debut with the stylish noir, A Small Town Called Descent, which won the Programmer' Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles 2012. His third feature, Of Good Report, was a source of controversy at Durban International Film Festival 2013, when the Film and Publications Board of SA banned it, but went on to acclaim both in SA and abroad including near clean-sweeps at the SAFTAs and African Movie Academy Awards. Jahmil has been a feature film jury member at festivals including Durban International and the Cairo International Children’s Film Festival.
