"TAXI" is a ride into the heart of the Egyptian streets. It is a film about Samiha, a female cab driver in Cairo who tries to earn a living using a stereotypically male occupation. Through it we confront the reaction of a predominantly patriarchal society to a woman behind the taxi's steering wheel. The interaction between customer and driver reveals the tensions, issues and problems that afflict the common Egyptian man. Hiding three cameras in Samiha’s car offers realism in its purest form.
