ZAFIRO

ANDRE ROBERT | 24 MIN | COSTA RICA | 2015

Diego Solís returns to his estranged father's hometown of Zafiro for his funeral. It is in this remote fishing village, a paradise draped in foliage but marred by poverty, that he embarks on a journey of reflection. Through his interactions with old friends, Diego begins to unearth parts of his past. Zafiro, in its raw and enigmatic beauty, helps Diego understand and accept his relationship with his father.Understated and visually poetic, this film explores the struggle of letting go, and the frail relationship between a conflicted father and his son.
